June, 2023. I love my painting “Buckets & Shells”. It pays tribute to the essence of color, the primaries, and also to one of my idols, N.C. Wyeth - the background postcard depicting his “Giant” shown in the clouds, viewed by children at the seashore-such innocent imagination! It also shows how artists control light direction by the use of a still life box. We are magicians actually, drawing our audience into a totally manipulated belief system, suggesting depth on a flat surface. It is a joy for both artist and viewer. Yay for the magic of beauty!!!
